Development exit finance is a short-term loan that helps property developers repay their original development loan once the construction is complete, giving them more time to sell or refinance the finished units, without pressure or penalty from the initial lender.

In simple terms, this is effectively a “bridge loan” at the end of a project, used to exit the original, more expensive development finance and buy time to, market and sell the completed units properly, avoid forced or discounted sales and secure better refinancing terms (e.g., long-term buy-to-let mortgages).
